Happy Thanksgiving from MS tag! We got to visit FES for reading buddies and had some great games and read aloud to them before break. Ask your student from Ms Henniges or Mrs Mizer's classes about Huckle Buckle Beanstalk!

FES students earned a Cougar Way Reward yesterday. It was called "The Great Turkey Hunt of '24." Mrs. Hammond hid 12 mini turkeys around the playground, and each class signed up for a hunt time. The class that could find the 12 turkeys the fastest would earn an extra recess with Mrs. Hammond next week. The 2nd grade class was the only class to find all 12 turkeys in the 20 minute time limit. Cooper Fountain was the only hunter to find Turkey #8!

Basketball and wrestling shirt orders are in. You may pick them up form the SFHS office.

Dear Parents and Students,
Please be advised of the following important changes:
Parking:
Effective immediately, please do not park on the street east of Sumner-Fredericksburg Middle School.
Parking in this area is restricted due to being a loading zone for our Middle School students and our buses need to be able to park their to avoid having students load in the roadway
St. John's Bus Stop in Sumner:
Starting Thursday, November 21, 2024, the St. Johns bus stop in Sumner will be picked up on 2nd Street.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to St. Johns for their generous partnership in allowing us to utilize their parking lot. Their support is invaluable to our school community.
As the days are getting shorter and the mornings are getting darker, please remember to stay on the sidewalk and off the street. This is especially important for students walking to school, as it can be difficult for drivers to see pedestrians in low-light conditions.
As we utilize the St. John's parking lot, please remember to be good stewards and park responsibly. Additionally, we kindly remind all students to park their bikes in the designated bike rack.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Trey Myers
Transportation Director

Congratulations to Alicia Jones on being named the 2A At-Large Cross Country Coach of the Year! Well done, Coach Jones! You've made your team, school, and community proud.

Due to low numbers only 2 quarters will be played for the middle school 7th grade girls basketball game today at Wapsie Valley. Reminder that 8th grade will play first at 4:15 p.m.

In Mrs. Kenan's 6th grade math class, students dove into the world of measurement! Students explored standard units of length, volume, weight, and mass by measuring different objects in a fun, hands-on environment! This type of learning encourages critical thinking and helps students apply their math skills to real-world situations.

The Turkey Valley – Sumner Fredericksburg Trap Shooting Team will be holding meetings for the upcoming Spring 2025 season. Any student, grades 7 – 12, that would like to join the team for the Spring season or has questions about the team should attend one of the two meetings in November along with a parent. The first meeting will be November 17th at 6 PM at the Turkey Valley School and the second will be November 24th at the SF High School at 6PM. Any questions can be directed to the team email, tvtrapteam@gmail.com.

Today FES students made posters and cards for Mrs. Brunner because she has been on sick leave. Then, students and staff walked to her house to sing "You Are My Sunshine" while holding up their posters. Julie, we miss you so much, and this place isn't the same without you! We can't wait for your return!

During ENCORE yesterday, Durant students talked about responsibility! They also recognized this month's Super Cougars. Congratulations to the yellow den for having the most den points this month, and thank you all students for working hard to follow the Cougar Way!

Come check out our fantastic student performances this Saturday at the Variety Show. Saturday @ 1 pm.

The Jensen Family gave the book, Just Like Caitlin, to every second-grader in the state of Iowa today. This book tells Caitlin Clark's story and includes many important life lessons like dreaming big, working hard, and valuing relationships over winning. Dickson and Luann Jensen are proud Iowans, business owners, coaches, parents, and grandparents. They are proud of Caitlin Clark and believe she is a great role model for all kids. Because of their love for children and desire to impact the next generation, they hope this book inspires kids to believe their future can be greater than they imagine. FES second-graders posed for a picture at the 3-point line to be just like Caitlin. They returned to their classroom, and Miss Henniges read the story to them.
