Welcome our new 5-8 Band teacher, My name is Abigail Ingwersen and I am so excited to come to Sumner-Fredericksburg as the Middle School Band Director! I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa in 2020. I will also be starting a Master’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa starting this summer. This upcoming school year will be my third year teaching Band. I spent my last two years of teaching at Tripoli Community School teaching 5-12 band and 3-5 general music.
Middle school band helped me find my passion for music and shape who I am today. I was given a lot of opportunities to grow as a musician and to become a better person. It is my intention to provide our students those same opportunities.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé Colton Kurtz and our two dogs, Pepper and Jack. I love being outdoors and going on hikes. Some of my favorite locations are Backbone State Park and Maquoketa Caves. A few of my hobbies include gardening, playing my flute and playing bags/cornhole.
