
On Friday, we announced the winners of our 2nd quarter of the ReadBowl. The top class was once again 7th Grade Literature Class 2! They read an average of 345 minutes per student. They only beat the second place class by 7 minutes per student. Our top readers were Lucille Kleiss, Orion Lentz, Theo Johnson, and Jayden Haverkamp. We are starting our last week of the ReadBowl. Please encourage your child to read.



Student-Athlete of the Week: Kinnick Gordon
"Kinnick does a lot of the little things that make a big difference for our basketball team. He fills up the stat sheet across multiple categories and has good basketball awareness. Kinnick's ability to jump in and play multiple positions gives us flexibility in our lineups and matchups. He is a key component for our success." -Coach Quigley

The students in Mr. Nuss' 6th grade health class took advantage of 58 degree weather in January to get 30 minutes of exercise in at City Park!




Here's an art class favorite. 4th Grade students enjoyed the paper mache donut creating process. During the lesson they discussed Andy Warhol and pop art. Thanks Mrs. Owen!

Sumner-Fredericksburg Student Athlete of the Week: Riley Larson & Liam Steege
"Riley is in her third year cheering for the Cougar Wrestling team. She works hard to ensure her teammates feel included and not fall behind in practice. Today, SFMS celebrated halftime of our ReadBowl Competition with the Cougar and SFMS Cheerleaders. Our top reading class was 7th Grade Literature Class 2. They read an average of 373 minutes per student! Our top readers in each grade level this week were Lucille Kleiss, Caleena Scott, Lilly Pratt, Theo Johnson, and Bella Sorenson. Please keep encouraging your children to read over the weekend! Quarter 2 reading logs are due on Monday.




Mr. Gates' 4th grade class and Mr. Skurdal's 2nd grade class learned together using Sphero Indi. Sphero Indi is a small, programmable robot designed to teach young children the basics of coding and computational thinking. Indi is an interactive way to introduce children to STEM principles while fostering creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
