SFMS ended their last day of school with a fun celebration as a prize for showing growth on their ISASP testing. The students enjoyed a trip to the Sumner Movie Theatre followed by the traditional staff vs. students volleyball and basketball games. The day was a great success, and it truly showcased the amazing group of students we have here. As we embark on the summer break, we want to wish you and your family a fantastic and rejuvenating summer ahead.

On Tuesday, the 5th grade students attended an all day field trip at Alcock Park, where they got to experience a variety of outdoor activities. Some of these activities included archery, canoeing, river study, yoga, disc golf, backpacking food, rocks and fossils, plants on the roadside, and much more! What an amazing experience for these students!

Miss Hoth is against distressed jeans, so the FES Staff came to the last day of school (and the last day of her being our principal) dressed as Rock Stars. We surprised her by having the students line the hallway and played "School's Out for the Summer." She walked the hall and gave students high-fives on their last day. FES wishes everyone a great summer!

FES had their last Cougar Way Assembly of the year today. We celebrated May and August Birthdays, recognized Star Cougars, and Ms. Hoth presented Perfect Attendance Certificates. Each class took a picture with Ms. Hoth since this was her last day being our principal. We watched our year-end movie. Thank you to Miss Henniges for putting this movie together for us each year. You can watch our movie at: https://youtu.be/qUuHQ4T8hg8

Tuesday was a beautiful day for Durant Track & Field day!

Thank you to the Shiver N' Squirrel for coming to FES today and providing a refreshing treat on our last day of school. We appreciate your generosity!

Today, the 6th grade students took a trip to Decorah, Iowa. Students learned about Norwegian immigration to Northeast Iowa at the Vesterheim Museum, ate lunch at Phelps Park, and hiked up Dunning's Springs. They also enjoyed ice cream from the Sugar Bowl and the Fish Hatchery.

The Cougar girls' golf team did it again! They punched their ticket to play at the State golf meet next week. Go Cougars!

The 7th Graders had the opportunity to collaborate with Fredericksburg Elementary's 3rd and 4th Grade classes this morning. We were able to read the fiction and poetry stories that we had published to each other.

MS helps their community by planting and cleaning up on Monday, May 13.

Every year, third-grade at FES celebrates Poetry Cafe Day. Mrs. Boltz magically turns their desks into a fancy banquet table, and she serves snacks. The students share their poetry books that they have written. Mrs. Boltz is a gem of a teacher, and we thank her for working so hard to inspire a love of writing into our students!
