Today was Grinch and Who-ville Day at FES. For the Christmas activity today, the Middle School TAG students came over and ate lunch and played at recess with our FES students. Garrytt Laabs read a Christmas story to all FES students after recess.
FES students did a FANTASTIC job last night at their Christmas program! Thank you to Mr. Jurgenson for all of his hard work making sure that our students were prepared to put on a great show! Thank you to all of the FES parents who helped supply a costume for their child. Thank you to the Preschool Team of Mrs. Schmitt, Mrs. Gloede, and Mrs. Krivachek for leading the preschool performance. To all of the FES students, we LOVED watching you perform!

SFHS Student-Athletes of the Week: Jamie Jones and Noah Henderson:
"Jamie Jones has been unstoppable with her growth and consistency this season. She has avenged several losses with domination over state qualifying and ranked opponents while earning herself a spot in the championship of every tournament thus far. Her tenacity, grit, and work ethic are keys to her success and inspirational to her teammates. Currently, Jamie holds a 14-4 record with 11 pins, she's ranked #8 in the state at 155 pounds. "Noah is a force to be reckoned with so far this season and is a leader on and off the mat for the Cougar wrestling team. Noah is currently 8-0 on the season including two wins over ranked wrestlers and won the Dan Guilford Invitational last Saturday at Monticello." -Coach Meyer

As winter weather approaches, we would like to provide you with information regarding Snow Days. If we experience a snow day next week, it will be made up on Monday, February 17th (Presidents' Day). After returning from winter break, the next two snow days will be normal snow days. Following these snow days, we will implement 5 At-Home Learning Days. If any additional snow days are necessary beyond these 7 days, they will be made up by extending the school year.
At-Home Learning Days packets are going home with your child today. They need to be put in a safe place at home. All work for 5 snow days are in this folder, as well as instructions, standards, and contact information. You will be notified via district notifications when At-Home Learning Days happen. Students will be able to communicate with staff members via Google Meet or email throughout the day to receive help. All work is graded. Students will have seven calendar days from that snow day to complete this work. All work will be posted on the school website. If you lose your packets (which we really hope doesn't happen), you will be able to reprint the work. Each class has their own work and it should be labeled by class and teacher.

FES students earned their last Cougar Way Reward of 2024 today. The Cougar Code was "Big Screen." All students gathered in the gym to use our big screen for the first time. A huge thank you to Mrs. Throckmorton for using her Book Fair dollars to purchase this inflatable big screen for us to use for our Cougar Way Rewards. Thank you to Mrs. Throckmorton and Miss Henniges for all of their help setting up the technology needed to run this big screen.
Cougar boys wrestling update for this Saturday:
Wrestling will begin at Noon, Weigh-Ins at 10:30am, any additional updates to the tournament will come tomorrow morning if there are any.
Due to the icy forecast for tonight, we are making the following changes to our Cougar basketball schedule at Sumner-Fredericksburg.
JV girls start @ 4:00 pm in the Blue gym (main gym)
JV boys start @ 4:00 pm in the Gold gym
9-10 boys to immediately follow the JV in the gold gym (2 quarters)
Varsity girls in the Blue gym start at 5:15, Varsity boys to follow.

Chickasaw County Fair Queen, Emma Brincks, and alternate, Luella Reicks, came to FES today to read Christmas stories to each classroom. Students had a chance to ask them questions about how they are serving their county. Then, they handed out candy canes to the students. Thank you for visiting FES today and for being excellent representatives of Chickasaw County!

Youth Night for Sumner-Fredericksburg students at Friday night's basketball game vs Jesup. All SF students have free entry to cheer on the Cougars! CBF will also be hosting a meal starting at 5 pm.
The MS girls basketball game today is at Postville and will begin at 4:15. The 7th graders will play first. The location is at the Wellness/Rec Center gym.
The MS boys wrestling team has a meet today at Denver. Start time is 4:15 at the Denver HS Cyclone Center gyms.
Cougar basketball game location information at Hudson: JV boys game - located in Hudson's new High School Competition Gym with the Frosh boys game to follow. JV girls game will be played in the High School Auxiliary Gym next to the new High School gym. The games are not being played in their traditional "old" gym in their elementary building. The new entrance to Hudson high school is located along Hudson Road, the address is 8009 South Hudson Road.
